I Found a 1955 Ford Thunderbird For Sale

Finding a good 1955 Ford Thunderbird for sale can take some time, but if you use the right tools, you will get a better deal and more selection.

The public received its first glimpse of the new Thunderbird in February 1954 at the Detroit Auto Show and shortly thereafter became another instant success for the Ford Motor Company. The preliminary mock-up received great reviews from both the press and the public. On September 9, 1954 the first production Thunderbird rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan.

The first year (1955) was an instant success as the new high-spirited Thunderbird's were equipped with the new overhead valve V8 engine and higher horsepower. Ford's most exciting news for 1955 was the introduction of the 2-passenger Thunderbird! The new V-8 powered bird was introduced as a sporty competitor to the Vet, but included a full line of luxury options. The first year Ford exceeded it's projected sales for the T-bird with 16,155 produced. Starting price for the Thunderbird's started at just under $3,000, unfortunately, these cars aren't that cheap anymore.

If you are looking for a 1955 T-bird for sale, they came equipped with a overhead valve V8 engine, boosted to higher horsepower with the addition of a for-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust. A host of power options were also included such as steering, windows, seat and brakes. The 3 speed manual transmission was standard, but overdrive and Ford-O-Matic automatic transmissions were optional.

Chevrolet Chevelle

Built as an entry to the mid-size muscle car battle in 1964, the Chevrolet Chevelle was Chevrolet's competition to the Pontiac GTO and increasing popularity of the Ford Mustang. When the Chevelle first debuted engine options were fairly light, a 327 V8 rated at 300 bhp was the highest power plant available. This made first year Chevelle's less desirable because higher horsepower engines could be ordered in alternative muscle cars. Quickly Chevrolet realized that more power options were needed for its mid-size muscle car and the next generation Chevelle's delivered on the message.

During the peak of the Muscle Car era the once mid-size muscle car blossomed into a heavy 1/4-mile killer. 1970 saw the greatest power options available to the Chevrolet Chevelle which included the famous LS6 option, a 454 cubic inch 450 hp monster capable of turning mid 13 second quarter miles.

The Chevelle continued into 1973 and was finally dropped from the Chevrolet model lineup due to low public demand and an ever-decreasing engine performance standard. Here are some of the best sites about the Chevrolet Chevelle:
