While many of us know that Ford is a major automobile manufacturer, some might not know that they produced their own cookbook. In addition to Fairlanes, Thunderbirds and F100's, Ford produced the "Ford Treasury of Favorite Recipes for Famous Eating Places" highlighting some of America's best restaurants.

The restaraunts and recipes in the book were selected from features appearing in Ford's monthly publication Ford Times. Grouped according to regions of the U.S., they made an excellent reference book for people on the road or wanting a good meal at home.

In addition, over 100 American artists were represented in each volume with their illustrations. Volume 3 of the Ford Cookbook contained 256 pages and was available to Ford Times subscribers for only $1.00 in 1960, otherwise non subscribers would have to fork over $1.95...ouch!

Here is a sampling of what you could find in Ford Times, a recipe for Miss Hullings Cafeteria in St. Louis, Missouri

Man searches for, reunites with his classic first car

Ralph Thrash was 15 years old and a high school sophomore when he bought the 1950 Ford, a two-door sedan with a windshield sun visor and rear wheel fender skirts.

More than five decades later, the same car, glistening with a fresh coat of black paint, and with the original fender skirts and wide sun visor in place, claims a special garage spot at Ralph and Joan Tharp's Hutchinson home.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off Ferrari 250 GT up for Auction

An original replica (1 of 3) of the Ferrari driven in John Hughes' epic comedy "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is being auctioned by Bonhams Auction House on April 19th at the Royal Air Force Museum at Hendon, UK. The car is a replica of a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT built for the film made with a fiberglass body. The replicas were used in the movie for stunts while a real Ferrari was used for close-ups and interior shots. If you were wondering about the car that went through the window at Cameron's house, that car was simply a motorless shell.

Only 100 of the original Ferrari 250 GT's were built and cost a mere $350,000 in 1986 at the time the movie was made. Nowadays, they can be expected to fetch in the millions - one recently sold at an auction in 2008 for $11 million! Estimates are based at $80,000 for the replica used in the movie.

On a side note, Cameron's house in the movie is also for sale and is located at 370 Beech Street in Highland Park, Illinois.
